Why Forza Auto Studio Inspects Every Vehicle Before Recommending a Service

23 July 2026·4 min read·Updated 28 July 2026

Two vehicles can be the same age, model and colour while requiring completely different levels of work.

One may only need light refinement before protection. The other may have deeper wash damage, previous repairs or limited clear coat that changes what can safely be achieved.

That is why every recommendation at Forza Auto Studio begins with the vehicle — not a package list.

Why Two Similar Vehicles Can Need Completely Different Services

A vehicle's paint condition depends on far more than its age or mileage. Two identical models from the same year can have entirely different finishes depending on how they were washed, transported, stored and maintained before arriving at the studio.

One might have been hand-washed with clean microfibre from day one. The other might have been through automatic brush washes weekly, accumulating fine swirl marks across every panel. The model is the same. The paint is not.

What an Inspection Reveals

During a paint inspection, PJ assesses the finish under controlled studio lighting. This reveals defects that are often invisible outdoors:

  • Swirl marks from improper washing
  • Previous repairs or repainted panels
  • Fine sanding marks from factory or dealership preparation
  • Buffer trails from incorrect machine polishing
  • Deeper scratches, etching or chemical staining
  • Contamination bonded to the surface

Each of these issues requires a different response. Some can be refined safely. Others may need to remain because the clear coat is too thin to correct further.

Why Paint-Depth Measurements Matter

Before any correction is considered, paint-depth readings are taken across the vehicle. These measurements tell PJ how much clear coat exists above the colour layer — and therefore how much material can safely be removed during polishing.

Clear coat is finite. Once it is gone, it cannot be replaced without repainting. That is why paint-depth data is not a formality. It determines whether correction is safe, how aggressive it can be, and where it should be avoided entirely.

Why Studio Lighting Reveals What Sunlight Misses

Outdoor light is flattering. It can mask swirl marks, haze and fine defects because the light source is diffused and constantly changing.

Inside the studio, controlled lighting is positioned to highlight every imperfection in the clear coat. Defects that were invisible outside become immediately apparent. This ensures the inspection reflects the true condition of the paint — not the conditions of the day.

How Inspection Prevents Underquoting and Unrealistic Timeframes

When a recommendation is made without an inspection, it is a guess. Quotes based on photos or vehicle details alone can underquote the work required, leading to rushed processes or incomplete results.

An inspection allows PJ to provide an honest timeframe and accurate pricing. If the paint needs more work than expected, that is identified before the vehicle is booked — not halfway through.

How Inspection Can Also Save You Money

Inspection does not only protect against underquoting. It also prevents clients from paying for correction their vehicle does not need.

If a vehicle's paint is in genuinely good condition, light decontamination and gloss enhancement may be all that is required before ceramic coating. There is no value in performing a full two-step paint correction on paint that does not need it.

Why the Recommendation Is Based on the Vehicle — Not the Highest-Priced Package

The role of the inspection is not to push toward a larger service. It is to identify what the paint genuinely requires.

Some vehicles benefit from a full correction before coating. Others are better served by minimal refinement that preserves clear coat. The recommendation is based on what suits the vehicle — not what costs the most.

What Happens During a Forza Inspection

A typical inspection includes:

  • Visual assessment under studio lighting
  • Paint-depth readings across multiple panels
  • Identification of contamination, defects and previous repairs
  • Discussion of the vehicle's history and your concerns
  • An honest recommendation for the most appropriate pathway

Why Final Pricing Is Confirmed After Assessment

Because every vehicle is different, final pricing and timeframes are confirmed only after the paint has been assessed. A vehicle that appears to need light correction may reveal deeper defects under inspection lighting. A vehicle that looks heavily swirled may actually have thin clear coat that limits what can be safely achieved.

The inspection is not designed to push you into a larger package. It exists so both you and PJ understand the condition, realistic outcome, timeframe and most appropriate pathway before work begins.
